Description

This red and blue mandala hex tile is bold, classic, and deeply satisfying — two colors that have appeared together in decorative art for centuries, here combined in a hand-drawn mandala of exceptional detail and balance. At the center, a clean white daisy form with eight blue petals sits inside a red scalloped border, surrounded by a densely filled blue circle that gives the composition a strong visual anchor. Beyond it, a ring of red-hatched lotus petals radiates outward, and then the outer border takes over — a wide band of alternating red and blue motifs: scroll shapes, teardrop pairs, dash rows, and dot accents that circle the mandala like an elaborate decorative frame.

This is original artwork by Bridget Koonce, and the two-color discipline here is genuinely impressive. Red and blue working alone — no black outline, no third color to mediate — creates a vibration between the two hues that gives the piece an almost luminous quality on the white ground. The densely hatched blue fill of the center circle especially, drawn entirely in parallel ballpoint strokes, has a texture and depth that rewards close looking.

The red and blue combination carries a lot of cultural resonance — folk art traditions from Eastern Europe to South Asia, delftware pottery, Americana, and more all share this palette. This mandala earns its place in all of those conversations while being completely, unmistakably Bridget’s own.

This tile is UV printed on 1/8″ Baltic birch wood for a warm, natural finish that makes the colors pop. The back is engraved with the HexWallTiles website. It comes as a standalone tile — you can use sticky tack to apply it directly to your wall, or pair it with one of our hexagon frames for a more finished look. Frames, necklaces, and all other hexagon accessories are sold separately.
