Description
This purple and black geometric stripe hex tile is a masterclass in pattern variety held together by diagonal structure. Bold lines sweep across the hexagon at an angle, dividing the surface into distinct bands — each one filled with a completely different mark: dense purple checkerboard, rapid parallel hatching, rows of small rectangles, scattered dot clusters, bold filled diamonds, and loose scribbled shading. The variety within the overall diagonal framework gives the piece a restless, energetic quality, as if the design is constantly surprising itself.
This is original artwork by Bridget Koonce, and the two-color palette — deep purple and black on white — does a lot of heavy lifting here. By limiting the colors, all the visual interest comes from the variation in mark-making: the difference between a tight checkerboard and a loose scribble, between a filled diamond and a dotted field, between controlled and spontaneous. It’s a piece that demonstrates just how much texture and depth you can get from two colors and a pen.
The diagonal composition gives it a sense of movement that makes it feel dynamic rather than static — it doesn’t sit still on a wall, it leans into it. That energy makes it a wonderful counterpoint to more centered, symmetrical pieces in a gallery arrangement, providing direction and momentum alongside the mandalas and florals.
It works in a modern or eclectic space, a home office, a creative studio, or anywhere that appreciates graphic boldness with real handmade depth. Pair it with OR007 for a striking black-and-white geometric pairing, or browse all of Bridget’s Originals and our Henna collection for more.
This tile is UV printed on 1/8″ Baltic birch wood for a warm, natural finish that makes the colors pop. The back is engraved with the HexWallTiles website. It comes as a standalone tile — you can use sticky tack to apply it directly to your wall, or pair it with one of our hexagon frames for a more finished look. Frames, necklaces, and all other hexagon accessories are sold separately.
Wondering where to hang it? HexWallTiles work beautifully in a home office, bedroom, or living room. Hang a single tile as a standalone statement piece, cluster several together for a gallery wall effect, or wind them down a hallway for something truly unexpected. The hex shape means every arrangement looks intentional — there are no wrong choices.
Made in small batches from natural materials here in Springfield, Missouri. Please allow for slight variation between tiles — that’s part of what makes each one unique and handmade.
