Description
This open book reading hex tile captures exactly what happens inside a reader’s head the moment a good book opens up. From the pages of a crisp white book, an explosion of henna vines, black florals, swirling tendrils, and bursts of color rises up and fills the whole tile like the story itself has nowhere left to contain it. Below the book, a bold stripe of every color in the rainbow anchors the whole composition, because that’s what a good shelf looks like, and that’s what a good story feels like.
This is original artwork by Bridget Koonce, and the layering here is doing a lot of quiet work. The background fills with soft grey henna patterning, dense with tiny flowers and spirals, while the foreground explosion goes full color, black ink blooms tangled with red vines, purple dots, green curls, and golden swirls. The open book itself stays clean and simple at the center, which makes everything pouring out of it feel even more alive. It’s a piece about imagination, and it looks exactly like imagination feels.
It’s the kind of tile that belongs in a library, a reading nook, a kid’s room, or honestly anywhere someone has ever lost themselves in a story for longer than they meant to.
A wonderful gift for the reader, the English teacher, the book club host, or anyone with a to-be-read pile that has become a structural concern. Browse our Hobby collection for more tiles celebrating the things people love, or explore all of Bridget’s Originals for more hand-drawn work.
This tile is UV printed on 1/8″ Baltic birch wood for a warm, natural finish that makes the colors pop. The back is engraved with the HexWallTiles website. It comes as a standalone tile, you can use sticky tack to apply it directly to your wall, or pair it with one of our hexagon frames for a more finished look. Frames, necklaces, and all other hexagon accessories are sold separately.
Wondering where to hang it? HexWallTiles work beautifully in a home office, bedroom, or living room. Hang a single tile as a standalone statement piece, cluster several together for a gallery wall effect, or wind them down a hallway for something truly unexpected. The hex shape means every arrangement looks intentional, there are no wrong choices.
Made in small batches from natural materials here in Springfield, Missouri. Please allow for slight variation between tiles, that’s part of what makes each one unique and handmade.
