Black and White Henna Botanical Diagonal

Description

This black and white henna botanical diagonal hex tile divides its space boldly — thick diagonal stripes of solid black sweep across the composition, and everything in between them is alive with hand-drawn detail. Bold pointed leaves, striped and filled with contrasting line work, rise from the lower center. Henna-style flowers cluster to the right, their spiral centers and layered petals packed tightly together. On the left, delicate grass-like sprigs and curling vine tendrils spill across the white ground.

This is original artwork by Bridget Koonce, and what makes it exceptional is the confident use of extreme contrast. The solid black diagonal bands are bold enough to function as graphic design elements, while the detailed botanical work between them has the intimacy of fine illustration. The two registers — bold and delicate — coexist without competing, each making the other look better.

This tile is UV printed on 1/8″ Baltic birch wood for a warm, natural finish that makes the colors pop. The back is engraved with the HexWallTiles website. It comes as a standalone tile — you can use sticky tack to apply it directly to your wall, or pair it with one of our hexagon frames for a more finished look. Frames, necklaces, and all other hexagon accessories are sold separately.
