Description
This sepia Mona Lisa hex tile reproduces an 1870s photographic copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous painting, taken decades before color photography made faithful reproduction easier.
The photographer captured the full composition, including the winding rivers and hazy mountains behind her that often get cropped out of modern reproductions focused only on her face. That slight, ambiguous smile reads just as clearly in this sepia print as it does in the original oil painting, which says something about how strong the underlying composition really is. Small inscriptions along the bottom identify the original artist and the photographic printer.
I included this piece because the Mona Lisa earns its fame honestly. It’s worth having a version of it that carries its own vintage character instead of a flat modern poster copy.
This tile works well in a living room, study, or gallery wall built around classic art history. It’s an easy gift for art lovers or students. Pair it with one of my hexagon frames for display.
Available from 1.5 inches up to 18 inches.
