Description

This green greyhound hex tile reproduces a 1912 print by Austrian artist Moriz Jung, published through the Wiener Werkstätte, the Vienna design collective known for pushing early 20th century printmaking into bold, graphic territory.

The greyhound stands front and center in thick black linework, all long legs and sharp angles, while the background fills in with a dense green pattern of leaves and stylized shrubs. There’s no shading trying to make anything look real. It’s flat, graphic, and confident, which was exactly the point for Wiener Werkstätte artists working at the time. The dog’s slightly wary expression gives the whole piece a bit of personality that keeps it from feeling purely decorative.

I like this one for people who want a dog piece that doesn’t lean cute or sentimental. It’s sleek and a little severe, the same way greyhounds themselves tend to be, and it reads as genuinely stylish rather than novelty decor.

Hang it in an entryway, a home office, or anywhere you want a graphic black and green moment. It works well against a neutral wall where the pattern can really stand out, and it makes a solid gift for anyone into greyhounds specifically or early Vienna design more broadly. Add one of my hexagon frames to finish the look, or browse other hexagon accessories.

Available from 1.5 inches up to 18 inches.
